Our nursery was born out of necessity—a response to the challenge of supplying native plant feedstock to the large-scale carbon projects run by our sister company, *Carbon Offsets Australia*, across Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region. At the time, no existing nurseries could collectively meet the massive demand for the biodiverse native plants essential to our revegetation and afforestation projects. With a need to source approximately 5 million native plants per year, we made the decision to establish our own nursery. This move ensured a reliable and sustainable feedstock supply for our carbon projects, laying the foundation for their long-term success.
As our nursery operations grew, word began to spread. Businesses and organizations approached us with suggestions to expand our growing schedule, highlighting species they needed for their own projects. Meanwhile, gardening enthusiasts from across Australia discovered our website, many of them in search of rare or hard-to-find species. Customers often waited months for their chosen plants to be grown, confident they had finally found what they had been searching for. It soon became clear that we had unintentionally tapped into a new and underserved market, leading to further growth in orders.
Shortly after establishing the nursery in Wanneroo, we were presented with an unexpected opportunity—a major infrastructure project invited us to tender for a soft landscaping contract. Initially, this wasn’t an area we had planned to venture into, but the scale of the project persuaded us to expand our services. We eventually won the contract, which involved supplying and installing over 700,000 native plants, along with handling massive amounts of mulch, topsoil, and other materials. This marked a significant milestone for our nursery, opening new avenues for growth and expertise.
From the outset, we had envisioned the nursery as more than just a supplier of plants. With the support of *Desire to Aspire (D2A)*, a not-for-profit organization, we saw the potential for the nursery to become a platform for positive change. Our goal was to create a traineeship program, specifically designed to offer Indigenous at-risk youth an opportunity to gain meaningful employment skills in a supportive environment. The nursery, with its outdoor setting and connection to the land, proved to be an ideal space for such a program.
Through the Kwadjet Koort ("moving forward") traineeship, these young individuals are given the chance to not only work in horticulture but also gain essential life skills, including assistance with driver’s licenses, mentorship, cultural support, and more, all thanks to D2A's collaborative efforts. The soft landscaping contract provided the perfect opportunity to implement this program, helping us fulfill our broader mission of contributing to both environmental and social sustainability.

We aim to alleviate suffering and increase self-esteem and well-being through a range of assistance services designed to make a lasting positive impact on their lives.
The board members of Desire to Aspire are an Indigenous family, traditionally from the Wheatbelt who have a strong desire to help their people in a charitable sense, whilst also being passionate about the environment.
The board members have a long history of being in business in various fields and have used their collective strengths and experience to start and grow the foundations of D2A to become a recognised and respected NFP in the future.
The main focus of D2A is to assist in the efforts to break the cycle of poverty across the Indigenous youth community. We have chosen to do this by delivering practical solutions with tangible outcomes. Such as a driver license program under the D2A Driving Academy. In addition to the delivery of life skills programs, literacy and numeracy, computer skills, pre-employment programs and even the financial support of identified talent from academia, the performing arts and sport.

A Commitment to the Environment and Community
In a world increasingly affected by climate change and biodiversity loss, every step we take to restore and protect our natural ecosystems matters. Supporting our nursery means supporting a future where native plants thrive, local communities benefit, and the fight against climate change is strengthened. Here are several reasons why backing our nursery is not just a green choice, but a vital contribution to the planet and society.
1. A Vital Role in Carbon Sequestration
Our nursery plays a key role in supplying native plant species for large-scale carbon sequestration projects, particularly in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region. These projects, run by our sister company *Carbon Offsets Australia*, rely on the native plant feedstock we grow to reforest degraded landscapes, restoring ecosystems and capturing carbon from the atmosphere.
By supporting our nursery, you are directly contributing to these carbon offset projects that help mitigate climate change. The native plants we supply not only absorb CO₂, but also revitalize soils, improve water retention, and foster biodiversity, creating resilient ecosystems for the future.
2. Preserving Native Biodiversity
One of the biggest threats to the environment today is the loss of biodiversity. Our nursery focuses on growing native, biodiverse species, many of which are vital to maintaining healthy ecosystems. These plants support local wildlife, including pollinators, birds, and other fauna, while also ensuring that the unique ecological balance of Australia is preserved.
By choosing to support a nursery that specialises in native species, you’re helping to protect Australia’s rich biodiversity, ensuring that these plants, many of which may be hard to find elsewhere, continue to thrive.
3. Sustainable Landscaping Solutions
Whether you’re a business involved in large-scale infrastructure projects or an individual looking to make your garden more eco-friendly, our nursery offers sustainable landscaping solutions. Native plants are well adapted to local climates and soils, making them more water-efficient and resilient to extreme weather conditions. Using native plants in landscaping not only reduces water usage but also cuts down on the need for chemical fertilisers and pesticides, contributing to a healthier environment.
Supporting our nursery means promoting sustainability in urban and rural landscapes alike. With every native plant you buy, you’re making an investment in a more sustainable future for Australia.
4. Empowering Local Communities
One of the core values of our nursery is its commitment to the community. Through our collaboration with the not-for-profit *Desire to Aspire (D2A)*, we’ve established the Kwadjet Koorl traineeship program, which provides Indigenous at-risk youth with training, employment opportunities, and life skills. Working in the nursery offers these young individuals a chance to reconnect with the land, develop horticultural skills, and gain mentorship through a culturally supportive environment.
When you support our nursery, you’re also helping to uplift young people who are working hard to change the direction of their lives. Your contribution directly fuels this social impact initiative, creating lasting change in the lives of individuals and their communities.
5. A Personal Connection to Nature
Our nursery isn't just for large projects or organisations; it's also for passionate gardeners, nature lovers, and conservationists. Many of our customers come to us in search of rare or hard-to-find native species, which we are able to grow specifically for them. By supporting us, you are nurturing your own connection to nature while also playing a part in preserving Australia’s native plant heritage.
Whether you're planting a small garden or participating in a larger conservation effort, every plant grown in our nursery contributes to a bigger goal—rebuilding ecosystems, one plant at a time.
6. Driving Innovation in Green Solutions
We didn't set out to just grow plants—we set out to innovate. Our nursery was created in response to a gap in the market: a lack of capacity for native plant feedstock needed for large-scale carbon and revegetation projects. Since then, we’ve discovered new opportunities in sustainable landscaping, environmental restoration, and community development. By supporting us, you're investing in a business that is constantly evolving, innovating, and finding new ways to address some of the most pressing environmental and social challenges of our time.
Your Support Makes a Difference
When you choose to support our nursery, you're not just purchasing plants—you’re actively contributing to climate action, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, and social empowerment. Every plant that leaves our nursery is a small but vital part of a much larger story: one of environmental stewardship and community resilience.
By joining us in this journey, you can take pride in knowing that your support helps create a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
